Project Overview
For this project, I designed an alternative rock album cover that embodies the moody, dynamic, and raw energy of the genre. The design process combined research, AI-generated content, bold typography, and layered textures to create a visually compelling album cover. The goal was to capture the atmospheric and emotional essence of alternative rock while demonstrating my technical skills and creative direction.
Concept & Process
I began by researching alternative rock album aesthetics, analyzing key visual elements such as gritty textures, dramatic lighting, and bold typefaces. This research helped me establish a clear artistic direction.
To generate fresh and unique ideas, I used ChatGPT to create a fictional album title, tracklist, and thematic inspirations. This AI-assisted approach helped me explore different concepts before refining my vision.
Next, I sketched initial concepts, selecting the strongest one to develop digitally:
Adobe Illustrator: Used to design vector elements and experiment with typography to match the alternative rock aesthetic.
Adobe Photoshop: Applied texturing, color adjustments, and layering techniques to enhance depth and atmosphere.
Throughout the design process, I iterated based on self-critique and refinement, ensuring the final composition was cohesive, expressive, and true to the genre.
Final Outcome
The final design successfully balances creativity with technical execution, featuring bold, grungy typography, rich textures, and a moody, immersive composition. This project allowed me to push my design boundaries, experiment with AI in the creative process, and develop a high-impact visual identity for a fictional alternative rock album.
